Bengali film and web show actress Puja Banerjee is currently riding high on the success of her latest release Paap: Antim Pawrbo on Hoichoi. The actress, who has been a popular face on Hindi Television, thanks to her stint with the show Devon Ke Dev: Mahadev, has not been launched in Hindi films yet.

OTTplay reached out to the actress and asked her the reason why she was never seen in any Bollywood film. In response, she said that none of the big production houses like Yash Raj Films or Dharma Productions launched her as an actress. “I never got launched by Yash Raj (Films) or Dharma Productions. It’s fine by me. I’m happy with whatever small things I could achieve in life,” the actress shared.

Further elaborating about the kind of roles she was offered, Puja shared, “Films are really different in Bollywood. I have been passionate about my career but at the same time, I’m also very homely so marriage and a child was always important for me. I had got a few films where the heroine was just an object without having much to do. That did not appeal to me.”

Appreciating OTT for providing audience entertainment from the comfort of their homes, Puja added, “OTT is the future. Even films are releasing on the web. It’s good. You can show the facts and truth without any limitations or boundaries. I don’t mean the bold scenes, but reality.”

Further talking about how OTT has challenged actors to perform better too, she mentioned, “Actors working on the web are very natural. People are doing so well that even if they act a little, it is tagged as overacting.”

Puja is now focusing on OTT. The actress has a few projects which are on the backburner for now owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. “I have most projects with the web only but the shooting has stopped due to the lockdown,” she signed off.
