The movie debuted directly on OTT today (February 21) without a theatrical run. Tony Sukumar is the writer and director of Pupa. Jeevesh Varghese and Deepa Saju play the main parts in the movie. The film received accolades for both its plot and acting when it was shown at the Chennai International Film Festival. It centers on a brothel in Varanasi and follows a few strangers whose chance encounter leads to growing tensions and profound changes in the characters.
Tony Sukumar is known for helming Bonamy, which received a nomination for Best Children's Film at the 2020 Kerala State Film Awards. The film's cinematography was handled by Rajkumar Bhaskaran. Joe Paul's lyrics have a background score and music composed by Raghupathi Pai. Haridas KR, Abhilash, Pramod Patiyath, Geomi N George, Krishna Suresh, Shenin Shajahan, and Pournami are among the other actors in the movie.

On February 20, Rima Kallingal's Theatre: The Myth of Reality made its online debut on the same platform. Many people missed the highly acclaimed film's October big-screen premiere because of its limited screening among other Malayalam releases on the same day. The main characters of Theatre are two women who live alone on a remote island and prioritize their use of natural, traditional medicines above contemporary medical care.
