Actress Purnaa, who has been on a roll with multiple releases, including 3 Roses on aha, Drushyam 2 on Amazon Prime Video and Balakrishna's Akhanda, will have another release this Christmas weekend, Back Door. Written and directed by Karri Balaji, Back Door has her paired opposite newcomer Teja Tripurana and is slated to hit theatres on December 25. B Srinivasa Reddy of Orchid Film Studios has bankrolled the film that has music by Pranav. The film's pre-release event was held in Hyderabad yesterday, where the actress spoke at length about the film.
"I need to thank all my directors and producers, to begin with. It wouldn't have been possible to survive for 16 years in the industry without them, their characters or opportunities. I had a good time working on Back Door. Many were confused about the title when the teaser and the trailer had released. It was an attempt to be catchy and make people curious. There's more to a film beyond its title. Back Door is a good script about woman power, a powerful decision taken by a woman in a crisis situation," Purnaa said.
Elaborating on the movie, she added, "Back Door is a movie with a good message, it's the reason I accepted it. I and the director Karri Balaji (garu) have a great connection. He really likes my work and has done a fantastic job in translating his script onto the screen. He's a very promising director, writer who understands the concerns that affect a woman. As my co-actor Teja Tripurana says, the last 15-minutes is the soul of the film. The character played by me takes a brave decision pertaining to a crime."
Showering praises on her co-actor and the crew, Purnaa stated, "I and Teja are the only actors in the film and we had a great time working on it. Teja could become a Salman Khan-equivalent in the Telugu industry in the times to come. The music in Back Door has come out very well; the final song, especially, is a tear-jerker that I too performed while being moist-eyed. I am grateful to producer Srinivasa Reddy (garu) for the opportunity. It's not about being part of a big or a small film, it's the story that matters. I hope audiences watch Back Door on December 25 and appreciate our efforts."
