Purusha Pretham is helmed by Avasavyuham director Krishand

Kerala State Award-winning filmmaker Krishand, who had helmed Avasavyuham and Vrithakrithiyulla Chathuram, is all set for his next – a crime comedy titled Purusha Pretham. The filmmaker took to his social media page to unveil the movie’s title posters along with its cast that features Darshana Rajendran, Prashanth Alexander and Jagadeesh.
The filmmaker posted five creative posters of the film, while also revealing the genre of the movie, which is based on a story by Manu Thodupuzha. Purusha Pretham also has Devaki Rajendran, James Eliya, Jeo Baby, Eika Dev, Geethi Sangeetha and Manoj Kana in pivotal roles.
Krishand wrote that the movie will be a “police procedural comedy” that will also have Avasavyuham cast members Rahul Rajagopal, Sreejith Babu and Sreenath Babu. The director will also be cranking the camera for the film, which has Prashanth as a toxic police officer.
The movie is jointly produced by Mankind Cinemas, Einstin Media and Symmetry Cinemas, with The Great Indian Kitchen filmmaker Jeo Baby presenting it. The screenplay of the movie is by Ajith Haridas and Manu. Krishand’s previous directorial Avasavyuham: The Arbit Documentation of An Amphibian Hunt had won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Film in 2021 and was a direct-to-OTT release on Sony LIV. Ahead of its State Award honours, the movie had also won several accolades at the IFFK last year.
Meanwhile, Purusha Pretham, which has Prashanth essaying one of the lead roles, also has him as a co-producer. Darshana had a stellar 2022, being part of two blockbusters – Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Hridayam and Vipin Das’ comedy entertainer Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey. Both movies grossed over Rs 45 crore in worldwide box office and are currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. The C U Soon actress, who was also part of Tovino Thomas’ Dear Friend, will next be seen in Rajeev Ravi’s period drama Thuramukham that is expected to finally release in theatres in 2023.
