Pushpa 2 The Rule Karnataka box office collection: Pushpa 2 The Rule opened with a record 1400+ shows in Bengaluru alone, a major chunk of which was allotted to the Telugu original version, and for good reason. It’s the only one that’s making money. Occupancy for the Kannada dubbed version has been low, and is yet to record a fast-filling/sold out show on Day 2.

Pushpa 2 BO performance way below KGF 2, despite paid premieres

According to industry trackers, the Karnataka region theatrical rights, for all languages, were reportedly sold for Rs 32 crore to Lakshmikanth Reddy of N Cinemas. The film opened on December 4 with paid premieres, which, according to tracker KA Talkies raked in Rs 2.55 crore. The number of paid premieres had been increased after all early morning shows between 12 am and 6 am on December 5 were cancelled.

Despite this setback, Pushpa 2 recorded a whopping 568 fast filling/sold out shows on Day 1 (working day) in Bengaluru, which surpasses films like Kalki 2898AD, Devara, GOAT and Stree 2. Day 1 gross from Karnataka is estimated to be in the range of Rs 14.8 crore. Including the paid premieres, Pushpa 2 clocked in at Rs 17.35 cr, failing to break the Day 1 record of KGF: Chapter 2 in the state. While KGF-2 reportedly made over Rs 30 cr on Day 1 (without paid premieres), the late Puneeth Rajkumar’s James also clocked more than Rs 20 cr on opening day.

The contribution of the Kannada version in this 17.35 cr is a measly Rs 1 crore. While Sacnilk puts it at Rs 1 cr, KA Talkies reports the final figure as a tad shy of the 1 cr mark at Rs 91 lakh. This, the tracker states, is less than the opening that the Kannada-dubbed version of Salaar: Ceasefire had in Karnataka. Prabhas’ film had made Rs 1.07 crore for the Kannada version on Day 1. This figure is expected to drop further, as bookings for the Kannada version remain low.

The response to the film, as per social media buzz, has been mixed. Prior to the release, distributor Lakshmikanth had predicted that Pushpa 2 will break the average box office figures of Rs 90-95 cr from Karnataka. He was also confident of breaking the KGF-2 Day 1 record, which the film has failed to achieve.
