Rishab Shetty's Kantara has drawn praise and acclaim from the biggest superstars of the country, including the likes of Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Hrithik Roshan. Unlike the majority of the recent successes from south India, Kantara was made at a much smaller budget and still managed to yield extraordinary results at the box office, grossing more than Rs. 400 crores in its theatrical run. The Kannada film, along with S.S. Rajamouli's RRR, Prashanth Neel's K.G.F: Chapter 2, and Lokesh Kanagaraj's Vikram, among others, helped southern Indian cinema grow further in stature.

Telugu superstar Allu Arjun, whose most recent blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise too belongs to the same bracket, lauded the efforts of team Kantara and congratulated them on the stellar success. The Stylish Star was recently seen taking the stage at the pre-release event of the Telugu film 18 Pages where he spoke about the ongoing shift in the tide in Indian cinema and how films like RRR, Pushpa, KGF 2, and even Kantara have helped talent from down south gain popularity all across the country.

Allu Arjun first congratulated 18 Pages leading man Nikhil Siddhartha for bagging a blockbuster in Karthikeya 2 and, in the same vein, he would enunciate the growth that Nikhil has encountered over the years as an actor.

Speaking about Karthikeya2, Kantara, and similar films, the Pushpa: The Rule actor said, "South films remained restricted to south India up till now. But thanks to people like Mr Rajamouli who laid the road for films from the south could go to the North. Similarly, many films after Baahubali followed the trend and we are fortunate that Pushpa was one of those, and so was KGF. Also, congratulations to Kantara for the recent success - many films rose to the occasion and so did Karthikeya 2. We are all very happy because one wishes to see many south Indian films go the distance. It is a proud moment for all of us that people from all over the country are watching our films."

Kantara's Telugu dubbed version was distributed by Allu Arjun's father Allu Aravind under the GA2 Pictures banner. Kantara Telugu alone grossed close to Rs. 60 crores at the box office.
