Mammootty’s Puzhu, co-starring Parvathy Thiruvothu, marks the megastar’s first film to release directly on an OTT platform. The movie’s makers have now released its official trailer, with only a few weeks ahead of its release.

The trailer, which is just a few seconds over a minute, reveals very little about the movie’s story. It starts off with Mammootty brushing his teeth with his son, while imparting some wisdom to him on how to properly do it. While this might seem like a wholesome moment, the eerie and rather haunting background score gives it a different feel.

We then see the father and son spend time together in their house before a few of the other characters are shown. The trailer gives hints of a strong thriller that will have the audiences on their toes. With Mammootty getting out of a car with a gun and wearing a breathing apparatus before going to bed, the film’s trailer fills the viewer with curiosity.

The intense thriller is directed by first time director, Ratheena. While Puzhu marks Mammootty’s OTT debut, the movie is also the first time the actor has collaborated with a female director, in his career spanning over five decades.

The movie will explore the complicated relationship between a father and son, and will have Mammootty essay a character with a grey shade after a while. Puzhu has music composed by Jakes Bejoy. It will join the long list of Malayalam movies that release on Sony LIV such as Tovino Thomas’ Kaanekkaane, Shane Nigam and Revathy’s Bhoothakalam, Dulquer Salmaan’s Salute and Saiju Kurup starrer Anthakshari.

Puzhu, which also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu among others, is set to start streaming on Sony LIV from May 13.
