Gaining popularity through various means, be it by creating musical content or singing a cover version of a popular song on social media, has become a starting point for the careers of many singers, and not all of them are trained singers. Playback singer Shahid Mallya, who received love for his songs in the film Qala, detests the culture of creating social media stars.

In a conversation with OTTplay, when the singer was asked to share his opinion on social media stars, Shahid said, "Social media star, really? In my opinion, if someone becomes a star based on the popularity of social media, they are not a star. Every respected singer has learned from their gurus and worked really hard on their craft. For me, the star is the entire team that creates the music. People love me for the song Shaunq, but the success of the song also goes to Amit bhai (Trivedi, composer), the writers, and every musician. They are the creators behind any hit song."

Shahid became popular due to songs like Rubaiyaan, Shauq, Nirvau Nirvir, and Udd Jayega.

Asked about how life has changed for him after the success of Qala, Shahid said, "My life has definitely changed after the success of Qala. Every success brings with it a certain amount of responsibility and hope. These days, I am getting to sing a lot of good songs, and many people are recognising my work. I can see that things have changed for the better and that I have gone many steps ahead."
