The Wachowski sisters released the first Matrix film to critical and commercial success in 1991. The eventual trilogy of films would go on to become one of the most iconic film franchises of all time. The sci-fi films about a post-apocalyptic world, where humans are living in a simulation, have captivated audiences from around the globe. The fourth film in the franchise is expected to release on December 22 this year. The film will be directed by Lana Wachowski, with sister Lily not involved. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss will reprise their roles from the original trilogy while Laurence Fishburne’s iconic character Morpheus has been recast with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

Jada Pinkett Smith, Christina Ricci, Priyanka Chopra-Jonas, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Ellen Hollman, and Neil Patrick Harris are rumoured to be in the film.
