In 2001, when The Fast and the Furious was released, no one could have envisioned that by 2020 it would transform from a grand theft auto crime thriller to a blockbuster action sci-fi franchise. Now considered a commercial juggernaut, the Fast & Furious franchise is counted among the most successful movie franchises in the world alongside the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings. In fact, its popularity is such that even the spin-off Hobbs & Shaw ranked no 1 on Netflix India’s charts for a week when it dropped. The original cast of Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster return in F9: The Fast Saga, the ninth film in the franchise, which also stars relatively new additions such as Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, and Nathalie Emmanuel (Game of Thrones). John Cena marks his debut in the franchise, with Finn Cole (Peaky Blinders) playing the younger version of Cena’s character. The film also features Hollywood legends such as Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, and Kurt Russell.
