On Friday, the Pune-based Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) announced the nomination of actor-director R Madhavan for president and chairman of its governing council. Anurag Thakur, a union minister, posted the information on X (formerly known as Twitter) and praised the actor who had made the transition from actor to filmmaker with his Oscar-winning movie "Rocketry: The Nambi Effect."

Anurag Thakur wrote, "Heartiest congratulations to @ActorMadhavan ji on being nominated as President of @FTIIOfficial and Chairman of the governing council. I'm sure that your vast experience & strong ethics will enrich this institute, bring positive changes, & take it to a higher level. My best wishes to you."

R Madhavan's response

Replying him with gratitude, Maddy wrote, "Thank you so very much for the honor and kind wishes @ianuragthakur Ji. I will do my very best to live up to all the expectations."

'Rocketry: The Nambi Effect,' a biographical drama centered on the life of former ISRO scientist S Nambi Narayanan, won big at the 69th National Film Awards on August 24, following the momentous success of ISRO's Chandrayaan-3 mission. The actor received the Best Feature Film honor, which brought honor to the nation. The movie also focused on S Nambi Narayanan's early career as a scientist after his Princeton University education.
