R. Madhavan has come a long way from the charming loverboy in Mani Ratman’s 2000 movie, Alaipayuthey. The actor is now a star recognised across the country and has worked in multiple industries. He gained nationwide popularity especially after Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, which also starred Dia Mirza and Saif Ali Khan. The actor, who turns director with Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, has now said that he would love to see Kartik Aaryan and Alia Bhatt star in the Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein remake, if it was ever made.

Talking to IndiaToday.in, Madhavan said that he does not think a remake to Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein (RHTDM) will ever be made. But when insisted on who he would like to see take the lead in the remake if one was made, the actor gave up two names.

“I don’t think the film will be made, but I don't know who else I will cast. But maybe, Kartik [Aaryan]," and added "Alia Bhatt, maybe," when asked about the female lead. The actor also revealed that a dream co-star that he would like to work with would be Jennifer Anniston.

Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein released in 2001 and was the remake of Madhavan’s Tamil movie, Minnale. Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, the Tamil movie was a success but the Hindi remake was not. Despite not succeeding at the box office, RHTDM became a cult classic over the years and there have been reports about a remake, starring Kriti Sanon and Vicky Kaushal.

Meanwhile, Madhavan is getting ready for the release of Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, which is directed by him. The actor stars as former scientist and aerospace engineer of the Indian Space Research Organisation, Nambi Narayanan. The movie, which stars Shah Rukh Khan and Suriya in cameo roles, is set to hit theatres on July 1.
