Pushkar–Gayathri’s 2017 film Vikram Vedha saw R Madhavan take on the role of idealistic police inspector Vikram. In the upcoming Hindi remake of the Tamil film, Saif Ali Khan is all set to step into Madhavan’s shoes as Vikram, while Hrithik Roshan will play his rival, Vedha. Madhavan recently revealed that he is more excited to see Khan’s performance in the film than Roshan’s.
In conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Madhavan was asked whose performance he was looking forward to in the Vikram Vedha remake. The actor replied that he did not want to give a ‘diplomatic answer’. Although Roshan did look ‘awesome’ in the film, the performance he was really looking forward to was Khan’s, as the latter was essaying the role Madhavan played in the original. “I want to know whether he will beat me, and make it more convincing”, Madhavan said. He also added that he got the feeling that Khan’s performance would indeed surpass his.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Madhavan had praised Khan, speaking of how charming the latter was. The actor had said that he was sure Khan would bring a ‘different dimension’ to the role of Vikram that Madhavan had not seen before. He added that he was sure the team behind the film would bring something new to the Hindi remake, saying the directors would not give audiences a ‘normal product’. Saying that it would be a ‘flavour’ that Bollywood appreciates, Madhavan added that he was excited to see Khan and Roshan’s performances in the film.
Madhavan was last seen in Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, a film which also marked his debut as director and writer. The actor had also starred in the film, in addition to producing it also. The film was released in theatres on July 1, in English, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
