Netflix has officially confirmed the second instalment of the popular criminal thriller series Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders. In response to the highly excellent reviews of the 2020 film, the streaming giant has announced that director Honey Trehan and writer Smita Singh will be returning for the sequel.

Star-studded cast introduced

Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be returning to his role as the dogged and perceptive Inspector Jatil Yadav. Along with him will be a large and highly regarded ensemble cast, which includes Chitrangada Singh, Rajat Kapoor, Deepti Naval, Ila Arun, Revathy, Akhilendra Mishra, Priyanka Setia, Sanjay Kapoor, and Radhika Apte.

Set some time after the events of the original film, Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders continues the story. This cold-blooded murder case forces Inspector Yadav into yet another complex and terrifying inquiry. A difficult balance between truth and consequence becomes increasingly apparent as he uncovers long-buried secrets within a strong family in his search for the truth.

World premiere at IFFI Goa

This November, in Goa, the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will host the world premiere of the much-anticipated Netflix feature. The film will make its debut at this festival showcase before releasing on streaming services.

"Jatil Yadav is a character very close to me, flawed and restless, yet relentless in the pursuit of justice," Siddiqui said of his return to the role. The actor added, "In the sequel, Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders, he faces a case that tests everything he believes in. Smita and Honey have created a world that feels real and raw, where every clue hides a secret. Coming back as Inspector Jatil Yadav feels like returning to unfinished business. I am excited for audiences to see more from the man behind the uniform."
