It was a heartening moment for actor Shanthnu, as none other than ace politician Thol Thirumavalavan watched his latest outing, Ravana Kottam. The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader watched the film at a special screening in Chennai today and Shanthnu revealed that the VCK leader appreciated the film. He also likened his appreciation to receiving a National Award. Shanthnu dropped a series of pictures on social media handle, in which he is seen along with the leader.

Shanthnu wrote on his social media handle, "With his blessings & support of after he appreciated #RaavanaKottam team from today’s screening a while back … - #RaavanaKottamTeam #TholThirmavalavanSupportsRaavanaKottam (sic)."

Raavana Kottam is directed by Vikram Sugumaran, who had earlier made Madha Yaanai Koottam. The film is produced by Kannan Ravi. The rural drama has Anandhi essaying the female lead, with Prabhu, Ilavarasu and Deepa Shankar forming the supporting cast.

Shanthnu had undergone a makeover for the film and had once revealed that he even had suicidal thoughts while making the film. "I couldn't believe how selfish people could be when they are carried away by their lust for money. There were times when I would sit alone and cry owing to the experiences we faced. After a point, I thought what if I commit suicide?"he had said. The actor had turned emotional during the press meet of the film.

The film had been long in the making and Vikram Sugumaran had stated that he didn't want to make any compromise on the film and hence, some people weren't comfortable due to this. The team had revealed that the budget went overboard and the shoot got delayed.

Shanthnu was last seen as a supporting character in Vijay's Master, which was helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Raavana Kottam is considered to be a comeback of sorts for the actor, who is awaiting a big break in his career. He had also appeared in Story of Things, a web series currently streaming on Sony LIV.
