Challenging Star Darshan’s next, Kranti, releases in just over a week and the team is in the last leg of promotions in full swing. Rachita Ram, the leading lady of Kranti, for who the V Harikrishna directorial is her third film with Darshan, has been at every single publicity event so far, which, she says has been a very enriching experience.

Speaking to Kannada Pichhar, Rachita said, “For starters, we always follow a colour theme and everyone sticks to it to show the unity with which the team functions. On the day of any event, we assemble at Darshan sir’s house and then leave together, as a group, to whichever city the programme is happening. The team again congregates at a hotel to freshen up, etc., after which all of us, including Darshan sir, head out together in a bus to the venue. Darshan sir is such a big star and ideally, he should not have to travel with the rest of the team. But he does, even if the whole group is too large for the bus and we end up cramming in with barely any space, we still do it, because these are memories for keeps,” says Rachita, adding, “On the bus, it was literally like a school excursion, with Shylaja ma’am the headmistress. Generally, when a big star has a movie release on a large scale, a limited section of the cast and crew take chartered flights and fly across the country. But here, the whole team was together – one big unit. I have to say, the off-camera experiences of Kranti have been far more memorable than those on it”

At the top of Darshan’s priorities on these trips are, no doubt, his celebrities, but just as important it is for him to ensure the safety and security of the ladies in the group. “For instance, at all our events so far, he always sent the women up on stage to speak and would have them safely escorted back to the bus soon after,” said Rachita.
