Radha Ravi's shocking 'rape jokes' on Aishwarya Rai resurface amid Mansoor Ali Khan's controversy

Senior Tamil actor Mansoor Ali Khan seems to have opened Pandora's box, reigniting debates about threats facing the safety and dignity of women members of the Indian film industry. 

Mansoor is under heavy fire for his controversial comments about Trisha. He outraged many when he revealed his desire to want to act with Trisha in a 'rape scene.' While he tried to get away with the controversy by claiming that he said some very distasteful things in a "lighter vein", it was not enough to appease those who were offended by his remarks. 

In the meantime, this controversy has also put the spotlight on other prominent members of the Tamil film fraternity, who made such awful remarks in the past.

Singer Chinmayi Sripaada has tweeted an old video of Radha Ravi's speech at an event, where he made 'rape jokes' targetting Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. 

In the clip, Radha Ravi can be heard ruing about not learning Hindi. "If I had learned Hindi, I would have raped Aishwarya Rai. Because people will only give me such roles. I would never be cast in divine roles," he said. 

This insensitive remark, making light of a serious crime, reflects poorly on the senior actor. Radha Ravi, however, didn't face the same outrage as Mansoor Ali Khan. He was let off the hook for these comments without much trouble.

"Radha Ravi said the exact same thing as Mansoor Ali Khan," Chinmayi Sripaada said while sharing the old clip. 

"I really, really want to know why nobody deemed it necessary to take any action on this man," she asked. 

In the past, Chinmayi has also made some serious allegations against Radha Ravi. She accused him of indulging in a witch-hunt against her and sabotaging her career for her vocal support for the #MeToo movement, which put many powerful men in the dock.
