Looks like Salman Khan’s luck with playing the same stereotypical role is finally starting to run out. His latest release Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai has hit the lowest ranking of all his films on IMDb, where cinephiles routinely leave reviews and ratings. This development is not entirely unexpected since Radhe had opened to negative reviews on ZEEPlex on May 13. Even before audiences had a chance to make up their mind, the bleak chance of Radhe being a success had become apparent when the trailer’s release resulted in a flood of memes on social media.

Widely accepted as Salman’s least liked release, Race 3 holds a rating of 1.9 on 10 on the website. Radhe, garnering over 76,000 votes, has been rated a score of 1.8 on 10. Thus, this Prabhudeva directorial has managed to disappoint audiences more than Race 3. Some critics have even rated this Salman Khan-Disha Patani starrer 0 out of 5. The film even lacked a good musical score, with the title track being the only one proving to be memorable.

However, nothing deters Bhaijaan’s fans - Radhe was still able to break records on the first day of its release by emerging as the most watched movie with over 4.2 million views on day one. The film then proceeded to collect a chunk of change by earning over Rs. 1.55 crore in Australia, Rs. 27 lakh in New Zealand and Rs. 1.17 crore in the USA in the four days since its release.

Salman’s Eid release for 2021, Radhe follows the titular character (Khan) who is a special encounter cop trying to rid Mumbai of its drug problem. While doing so, he falls for his boss’ (Jackie Shroff) sister Dia (Patani). Ultimately, Radhe must defeat the kingpin of the drug empire, Rana (Randeep Hooda). Even Hooda, who claimed that his role in Radhe was an extension of his real personality, failed to be the saving grace for the film. Most reviews for the film agreed that this might be one of Salman’s worst performances.

Though the release of Radhe was highly anticipated, a leak of the entire film ruined the excitement of many fans. Ironically, the film was leaked just hours after Salman’s tweet against piracy.

Due to a nationwide pandemic, Radhe turned to OTT platform ZEE5’s pay-per-view service called ZEEPlex in order to release the movie. Reports have stated that only 70 screens across the country have been able to stream Radhe. Before the pandemic, it was customary for Salman’s Eid releases, which are guaranteed to be fan favourites, to open in over 4,000 screens in the country.
