Radhe Shyam: Pooja Hegde opens up on the movie’s mediocre performance, says every film has its destiny

Radhe Shyam, starring Prabhas and Pooja Hegde in the lead, hit theatres after being one of the most anticipated Telugu movies of the year. Hegde has now opened up about the movie’s box office underperformance. 

Talking to Pinkvilla, the actor said, “Sometimes you watch a film and you think it’s an okay film, but the box office does really well. Sometimes it’s a film that didn’t do well at the box office, but when you watch it, you wonder why it didn't work."

The actor added that she feels every film has its destiny at the box office, and that’s on the film. 

Pooja Hegde also said that she felt happy because people were appreciating her acting chops in the movie, apart from just her looks. She added that fans pointed out how she had improved as an actor and how her emotional scenes were good. 

In a recent interview, director Radha Krishna Kumar also spoke about the movie’s negative reviews, saying that even though it was said to be a romantic drama, critics were bashing the movie for its lack of action. 

"Simply put, Radhe Shyam is style minus any substance, and it makes Prabhas' earlier dud Saaho seem infinitely better. That's not a standard you'd want to set for a film. All that glitters is not gold. Neither the story, the writing, nor the performances. This is a long ride to hell," Read OTTPlay’s review of the period ro mantic drama.
