Navarasa Nayaka Jaggesh’s latest, the Santhosh Ananddram directed Raghavendra Stores was, according to sources, picked up by Amazon Prime Video under the on or before 30-days from theatrical release agreement. As such, the film, which came to theatres on April 28, was expected to be available on the platform by May 26 at the earliest, given recent trends. Turns out, the streamer had other plans. As of today, May 19, Raghavendra Stores is available to stream. The film was made available without any prior intimation about the same, as has been the case with several recently released Kannada titles on the platform.

Raghavendra Stores was a film that had several months of uncertainty over its theatrical release prospects, and finally came out on April 28. The Santhosh Ananddram directorial, produced by Hombale Films, was supposed to have released way back in August last year, with a teaser unveiled on the eve of KGF: Chapter 2’s theatrical outing, but it was then pushed ahead without word on when it would come to theatres after all. For a while it was even believed that the film could be a direct-to-OTT release after all. But then, out of the blue, the team of Raghavendra Stores announced that it was coming to theatres and it did so in competition with Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2.

The film, according to the makers, did decent business at the box office, although official figures were not made available. There was a lot of positive feedback for Santhosh’s film, given that it was not only a start-to-finish laughathon, but also addressed pertinent matters relevant to society at large. The film, which marked Jaggesh’s first collaboration with the director and banner, had him playing a 40-year-old unmarried local cook, desperate to get hitched. The film also starred Shwetha Srivatsav, Dattanna, Ravishankar Gowda, Mithra, among others.
