Ragini Dwivedi is in a happy space as far as her career goes right now, having announced 3 new Kannada films in the span of only a few days. The actress, who not long ago had her name tarnished and career in the dumps following the ‘Sandalwood drug scandal’ in which she got a clean chit eventually, has been rebuilding her work life step by step, some of which have been missteps, like, for instance, Sanju Weds Geetha 2, Kick, Sheela, but the immediate future is looking a lot better.
The Veera Madakari, Shankar IPS and Kempe Gowda fame actress who has two films with Empuraan and Thudarum star Mohanlal in the pipeline, namely Vrushabha, directed by Pogaru fame Nandakishore and Hridayapoorvam, directed by Sathyan Anthikkad, has spent a sizeable amount of time this year in Mumbai, where, she says, she shot for two projects that will land on OTT. While she is contract bound to not divulge details, both shows are in Hindi. “I will soon be making my Hindi OTT debut with a couple of series. One is for Netflix, in which I am one of many characters, while the other one is for Zee5 in which I play the lead. It’s quite exciting; I have finished shooting for both and they should be out soon,” she says.
Meanwhile, back home in Kannada, Ragini first announced Sindhoori in which she is pitted against Dharma Keerthiraj. She followed this up with Sarkari Nyayabele Angadi, which explores the scams in the Public Distribution System of foodgrains (ration). Her character is at the forefront of exposing the issues and fighting them head on. Kumar Bangarappa makes a comeback to cinema with the film and has a cameo in it.
Then, last, but not the least, there’s Jawa, a film in which she joins Hiranya and Gajarama actor Rajavardan, which will be directed by Chakravarthy Chandrachud, who has now been rechristened Devaa Chakravarthy for his directorial venture. Rajavardan has floated a production house to make the film called Jawa, in which Ragini is, reportedly, playing a superstar.
