Rahul Sadasivan, who helmed the critically acclaimed Bramayugam, has joined hands with Pranav Mohanlal for yet another horror film. The film recently wrapped up shooting and now the title of the much-anticipated project has been revealed to be Dies Irae. From the title meaning to genre, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Malayalam film.
After Bramayugam and the award-winning Bhoothakaalam, Rahul Sadasivan is collaborating with Pranav Mohanlal on the horror movie, which was tentatively titled NSS2. The young filmmaker took to social media on May 9 to reveal the title to be Dies Irae, The Day of Wrath, starring the Aadhi actor Pranav in the lead role.
Rahul Sadasivan has also penned the film, which is backed by Night Shift Studios and YNOT Studios. Shehnad Jalal is the DOP, while Jothish Shankar is the art director. The film will have music by Christo Xavier, while Shafique Mohamed Ali is the editor. Only the lead star’s name has been revealed till now, the rest of the cast under wraps.
Rahul’s announcement on social media was received with much enthusiasm by fans, who are confident that the director will deliver a hat-trick of notable films. Some netizens also went on to explain the meaning of the title Dies Irae, a Latin term, referring to the Last Judgement. Some commented ‘International Stuff’ and ‘Eagerly Waiting’.
Both Bhoothakaalam and Bramayugam are currently avaialble for streaming on SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium. Bhoothakaalam, starring Mammootty, narrates the tale of folklore singer, from a lower caste, who seeks refuge an ancient mansion after getting lost in the woods. The aging patriarch welcomes him with open arms, much to the delight of the singer. But little does he know that his life is going to change from then on.
On the other Bhoothakaalam is set in the present day and revovles around Vinu and his mother Asha, who stay at a rented house. After a death, the youth begins to experience eerie incidents inside the house. The film stars Shane Nigam and Revathi, who won a state award for her performance.
