Raj and DK brought Farzi to Shahid Kapoor as a film eight years ago, actor reveals how it eventually turned into a series

2023 marks Shahid Kapoor’s OTT debut with none other than Raj and DK. The actor is all set to bring forth his web series titled Farzi for the viewers. However, the web series was actually originally planned as a film.

At the recently held trailer launch for Farzi, Shahid Kapoor ended up revealing that Farzi was originally a movie that Raj and DK planned. Co-incidentally they approached Shahid for the movie as well, eight years back.

Shahid revealed that Raj and DK were unsure whether he wanted to actually do the show and were surprised he said yes. They believed he might be joking when he said yes to the project after so long. Shahid then explained that he has loved watching the filmmakers’ work and he would absolutely love to collaborate with them.

“He had this idea which strangely eight years back, we had discussed with each other as a movie,” said Shahid, further revealing, “At that time, it was too big in terms of the length of the story for it to fit into a movie.”

The actor feels the best thing to happen to Farzi is that it didn’t become a movie. He feels that nobody would’ve been able to justice to the concept of Farzi if it were turned into a movie.

Shahid then shares that the first season of Farzi is equal to two and a half movies. He then hinted at the installment, sharing that if people like season 1, there will be a new season.

The actor hints that the characters each have a story to narrate, which leads to more time invested in making the series. “By the time I finished playing Sunny, I almost felt like it was just the beginning of Sunny.”

Farzi also stars Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role. The series is scheduled to be released on Amazon Prime Video on February 10, 2023.
