Su from So, the newest production venture of actor-filmmaker Raj B Shetty’s Lighter Buddha Films, is hitting theatres across Karnataka on July 25, 2025. The Kannada horror comedy has been written and directed by JP Thuminad, a popular name in Tulu theatre and cinema, who is better known as Priya’s (Rukmini Vasanth) husband Deepak in Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B, in Sandalwood circles.
Raj and his team have been having paid premiere shows in select locations to drum up interest in the film and going by the response so far from the screenings in Mangaluru and Shivamogga, it seems that JP Thuminad has delivered an ace. According to audiences who have seen the film, Su from So is a complete package, an entertainer with start-to-finish laughs, while also exploring a pertinent subject.
After the film’s trailer came out, Raj and co had been asked if they were planning to release the film in Malayalam, as the rooted story-telling had a Malayalam cinema vibe to it. Initially, the team had no such plan, but when enquiries came in and Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films offered to distribute a dubbed version, work on getting a Malayalam version together began. In an Instagram live session shortly before the film’s Mysuru premiere, Raj said that Su from So’s Malayalam version will release in Kerala on August 1, 2025, as per the current plan.

As for the film’s overseas release, the actor-filmmaker said that he will have more clarity in the coming days, as there are delays with completing censor formalities in some destinations. He is, however, hopeful of making it available at the earliest.
Su from So has JP in the lead, along with Shaneel Gautham, Deepak Rai Panaje, Prakash Tuminad, Mime Ramadas, Sandhya Arekere, among others. The film’s cinematography is by Chandrashekar, while newbie Sumedh has handled the music.
