Businessman Raj Kundra has found himself in legal and controversial trouble yet again, as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) reportedly raided his house and other locations in connection with a money laundering case. This marks the second money laundering case against Kundra, who earlier this year had assets worth ₹98 crore attached by the ED in a cryptocurrency case involving him and his wife, Shilpa Shetty. However, they received relief from the high court. The details of the latest investigation remain undisclosed, but Raj Kundra has released a statement requesting the media and public to keep his wife, Shilpa Shetty, out of the matter.
The ED on Friday raided Raj Kundra's house in connection with a money laundering case linked to the alleged distribution of pornographic and adult movies, according to several reports online. In this case, approximately 15 locations in Mumbai and parts of Uttar Pradesh were searched, including Kundra's office and home. The ED also reportedly questioned Kundra at one of these premises.
Breaking his silence, Raj Kundra shared a statement on Instagram Stories, writing:
"To whom it may concern, while the media seems to have a flair for drama, let's set the record straight: I'm fully complying with the ongoing investigation that has been unfolding for the last four years. As for the claims of 'associates,' 'pornography,' and 'money laundering,' let's just say that no amount of sensationalism will cloud the truth. In the end, justice will prevail!"
He added, "A note to the media: It's unacceptable to repeatedly drag my wife's name into unrelated matters. Please respect the boundaries!!! #ED.”

Shilpa Shetty’s lawyer also issued a statement clarifying that she has no connection with the case and urged the media not to include her name in relation to it. The statement also warned of consequences for media outlets spreading false information. Advocate Prashant Patil said:
"There have been reports in the media claiming that my client, Mrs. Shilpa Shetty Kundra, has been raided by the Enforcement Directorate. These reports are not true and are misleading."
He continued,
"As per my instructions, there has been no Enforcement Directorate raid on Mrs. Shilpa Shetty Kundra, as she has nothing to do with any offence of whatsoever nature. However, the case in question is an ongoing investigation regarding Mr. Raj Kundra, and he is cooperating with the investigation to ensure the truth comes out. I would request electronic and print media to refrain from using videos, pictures, and the name of Mrs. Shilpa Shetty Kundra in connection with this matter. Strict cognisance shall be taken against irresponsible journalism wherein pictures or videos of Mrs. Shilpa Shetty Kundra are shared in this context," the statement concluded.
The complete details of the investigation and its outcome are awaited. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more information on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
