Rajamarthanda is the late Chiranjeevi Sarja’s last commercial film release. The shoot of the film had just been completed when the actor passed away. At the time, he had not dubbed for his role, something that worried the team, but all their fears were allayed when his brother Dhruva Sarja took it upon himself to provide his voice to Chiranjeevi’s character. Directed by K Ramnarayan, the film, according to the team is a complete mass entertainer that is meant for a theatrical experience.

Release date

Rajamarthanda was launched in 2017 and is being released in 2023. It’s been a while since Rajamarthanda has been ready, and multiple possible release dates were heard in industry circles. But the team eventually decided to make it a birthday treat for Dhruva on October 6. In a way, an October release makes it an early birthday gift for the late actor too, whose birth anniversary falls on October 17.

Trailer

As per the action-packed trailer of Rajamarthanda, it seems that the film follows a power struggle between the scions of two entrepreneurial families. The official synopsis of the film, though, paints a different picture. A medical student’s study of split personality in human beings causes her to cross paths with a man who often behaves strangely and yet solves his problems in his own grand and unpredictable ways. Given that images from the film have heroine Deepthi Sati sporting a lab coat, this could be the central plot after all.

It had been earlier reported that the makers had figured out a scene in which Chiranjeevi’s son Raayan Raj Sarja would be seen in the film. While they have not divulged much about this, during a recent press briefing Dhruva had spoken about a scene in which a child gives Chiranjeevi a peck on the cheek. Perhaps, Raayan has been digitally edited into this scene?

Cast

Chiranjeevi Sarja, Deepthi Sati, Meghashree, Chikkanna, Saurav Lokesh aka Bhajarangi Lokesh, Triveni Rao, Sharath Lohithashwa, among others, will be seen in Rajamarthanda.
