Superstar Rajinikanth is now basking in the success of his latest movie Jailer. Adding to his delight was receiving the 'golden ticket' from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He was the latest to join the elite club of icons who have received this honour. Earlier, the BCCI had honoured Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah met Rajinikanth at his residence and presented him with the 'golden ticket' to the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. "The Phenomenon Beyond Cinema! The BCCI Honorary Secretary @JayShah presented the golden ticket to Shri @rajinikanth , the true embodiment of charisma and cinematic brilliance. The legendary actor has left an indelible mark on the hearts of millions, transcending language and culture. We are thrilled to announce that Thalaiva will grace the @ICC @cricketworldcup 2023 as our distinguished guest and will light up the biggest cricketing spectacle with his presence," the BCCI wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

A day after receiving the 'golden ticket' Rajinikanth took to Twitter to appreciate the BCCI and Jay Shah for their thoughtful gesture towards him. "I am extremely happy to receive the prestigious Golden Ticket from BCCI for @ICC @CricketWorldCup 2023. My heartfelt thanks to BCCI.. Dear Jayshahji… it was a pleasure to meet you..Thank you very much for your warm words and thoughts," he tweeted.
The BCCI will host the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India starting from October 5 to November 19, 2023. As many as 10 teams from around the world, including New Zealand, Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka will play in the biggest cricket carnival.

Rajinikanth is now getting ready to join the sets of his next movies. He recently completed dubbing for Lal Salaam, in which he played an extended cameo. Next, he will join the sets of TJ Gnanavel's next, which has been temporarily titled Thalaivar 170. Following this he will start shooting for Thalaivar 171, which will be helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
