Superstar Rajinikanth's Jailer is one of the most-awaited movies of 2023. The movie will kick-start the season of blockbusters as several highly-anticipated, big-star movies have blocked the lucrative dates of the remainder of the calendar year.

Jailer has created a lot of excitement since the project was announced last year. And the excitement is likely to reach a fever pitch as the movie's plot has now been leaked online. It's unclear how the detailed synopsis of the movie made its way to the internet. But, judging from the synopsis, it becomes clear that Jailer has a premise which is very similar to superstar Kamal Haasan's Vikram.

Written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Vikram became one of highest grossing movies in the history of Tamil cinema, with a worldwide gross of up to Rs 500 crore. The movie told the story of a retired spy who comes out the hiding and employs his skillset to avenge the death of his son, a police who gets killed by a drug mafia.

Similarly, in Jailer, Rajinikanth plays a retired cop named Muthuvel Pandian. And he shares a close bonding with his grandchild. When his son, who is a police officer, goes missing, Muthuvel Pandian returns to the field and brings all the firepower he could muster to get to find out the truth behind his son's disappearance.

We have already seen a few glimpses of Rajinikanth's violent and ruthless persona in lyrical videos of Hukum and Jujubee . And we can't wait to watch Thalaivar setting the screens on fire.

Besides firepower, Jailer is also heavy on its star power. Besides Rajinikanth, the film also stars Shivarajkumar, Mohanlal, Tamannaah, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vasanth Ravi, Redin Kingsley, Vinayakan and Jaffer Sadiq. Nelson has written and directed the movie, which has been bankrolled by Sun Pictures.

Jailer is due in cinemas on August 10.
