Some years back, Kartik Aaryan was being considered for a project with Karan Johar (that was not Dostana 2) and Sandeep Modi. Unfortunately, the film got shelved. Now, we hear, Rajkummar Rao has stepped in and is working with the duo. Is it the same film? How did it all come together? Here's everything we know so far...
Rajkummar Rao has given his verbal commitment to Sandeep Modi and Karan Johar for their next movie, according to a report on PeepingMoon. The actor has not yet signed the film which is touted to be a thriller-drama with elements of comedy and suspense. The rest of the cast is also not signed for the movie yet.

Kartik Aaryan was supposed to work with Sandeep Modi and Karan Johar on a period action-drama. The two genres are different and thus, we can confirm that it is not the same project either. While that movie would have marked Sandeep Modi's Hindi directorial venture, it is now likely to happen with Rajkummar Rao instead. The Chumbak (Swanand Kirkire) director was exploring opportunities with Karan Johar, and finally, it has happened!
Rajkummar Rao has a packed schedule before he commences work on this movie. The actor will commence filming his satirical drama opposite Keerthy Suresh soon. He is also scheduled for Sourav Ganguly biopic, which will be helmed by Vikramaditya Motwane. It is only after that the Aligarh actor might start work on Sandeep Modi-Karan Johar's film (around October).
Rajkummar Rao awaits the release of Maalik. The action-drama will be out in theatres on July 11. The actor has also wrapped up Toaster and the Netflix series could release towards the year end.
