Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi are all set for the release of Bhool Chuk Maaf, but faced a halt on the release by the Bombay HC. The film was supposed to hit theaters on May 9, but the makers cancelled it and announced that it would land directly on Amazon Prime Video on May 16. However, after PVR INOX sued Maddock Films, the Bombay HC blocked the OTT release of the film.
The Bombay High Court has ordered a stay on the release of Bhool Chook Maaf on Amazon Prime Video following a legal dispute between the film's producer Maddock Films and theatre chain PVR Inox. In an interim order issued on May 10, 2025, the court ruled that the film cannot be released on any platform until the agreed theatrical window of 8 weeks is over.

The decision to release the film directly on OTT platforms has been made in response to increased security measures across the country due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
The producers—Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios—released a statement which reads: "In light of recent events and the heightened security drills across the nation, we, at Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios, have decided to bring our family entertainer, Bhool Chuk Maaf, directly to your homes on May 16 only on Prime Video, worldwide."
The film tells the story of Ranjan, a hopeless romantic (played by Rajkummar Rao), who lands a government job to marry his love Titli (Wamiqa Gabbi). However, as the wedding preparations begin, Ranjan finds himself stuck in a time loop, repeatedly waking up on the day of their haldi ceremony. The film is a romantic comedy set in Varanasi.
