Rajkummar Rao’s Maalik gets a June 2025 release date - Here's what we know so far

Rajkummar Rao had one of the most successful years of his career in 2024, with Stree 2 breaking multiple box office records and setting new benchmarks. At the peak of Stree 2’s success, Rajkummar took to Instagram to announce his next film, Maalik, which had been in the making for a while. Directed by Bhakshak fame Pulkit, the film reportedly stars Manushi Chhillar in a leading role. Now, the makers have revealed the release date, and here’s everything you need to know.

Maalik Release Date Revealed

After an overwhelming response to their intense poster, Tips Films and Northern Lights Films have finally announced the release date for the much-awaited action entertainer, Maalik. Set for a theatrical release on 20th June 2025, the film stars Rajkummar Rao and as Maalik, transforming into a ruthless gangster with a striking new intensity, promising action-packed entertainment.

According to Hindustan Times, Rajkummar Rao and Manushi Chhillar were shooting for Maalik on the Lucknow-Kanpur highway in August 2024, with a schedule that lasted for about a month. The action-packed film also features Anshumaan Pushkar, Prosenjit Chatterjee, and Swanand Kirkire in pivotal roles. The muhurat shot took place last Sunday in Pathakpur village.

“Currently, we are shooting in a village, and then the location will shift to Kanpur for 10 to 12 days. Thereafter, the entire team will move to Lucknow for an extended schedule, with filming set across multiple locations,” shared the film’s line producer, Aroon Singh Dicky.

Pulkit, known for his expertise in thrillers and dramas, takes the director’s chair for this gripping story. The shoot is currently in progress, with an extensive schedule planned across various locations in India. Maalik is produced by Kumar Taurani under the Tips Films banner and Jay Shewakramani's Northern Lights Films.
