After starring in Netflix’s OTT show Rana Naidu and producing ZEE5’s slice-of-life comedy Maya Bazaar For Sale, Rana Daggubati has confirmed a new project as an actor. He is reuniting with filmmaker Teja for a gangster saga titled Rakshasa Raja. The actor-director duo had earlier collaborated for the successful political drama Nene Raju Nene Manthri (which also starred Kajal Aggarwal, Catherine Tresa).
For the unversed, though the project was officially confirmed today, Rana and the director Teja assured fans that they would be joining hands again for a new film at Ahimsa’s promotional event earlier this year. Ahimsa, marking the debut of Rana Daggubati’s younger brother Abhiram Daggubati, released in theatres this June and is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Meanwhile, there are huge expectations around Rakshasa Raja. Rana Daggubati has always revealed that the actor in him came to the fore during the shoot of Nene Raju Nene Manthri and it’ll be interesting to see how Teja captures a different dimension of the performer with their latest collaboration. The title font of the gangster drama was also launched today.
The title poster confirms that Rana will yet again be seen in a raw, rustic avatar - he dons a ‘vibudhi’, with bullets around his fingers and holds a gun with his left hand. The cast, crew of the much-anticipated project will be revealed soon. During Ahimsa’s promotional event, Gopinath Achanta was named as the producer. One needs to wait to confirm if there are other changes in the team.
Rana Daggubati, in collaboration with Trivikram, is also set to star in a mythological tale - Hiranyakashyapa (a project he was to work with Gunasekhar earlier). He was also the presenter of two other Telugu films this year - Keedaa Cola (to be out on aha soon) and Pareshan (out on Sony LIV).
