It is not often that Kannada actor-filmmaker Rakshit Shetty decides to use his banner to present someone else’s vision. But when he does, it is for films that touch and haunt him for days and are, according to him, extraordinary. Sometime last year, Rakshit had chosen to highlight Raj B Shetty’s second directorial Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana in this fashion, which helped the team immensely with the distribution of the film.

Rakshit, who is currently basking in the success of his own release, 777 Charlie, which has completed 25 days at the box office, has now taken to social media to talk about yet another film that he felt compelled to lend his shoulder to and present it in Karnataka. Yesterday evening, Rakshit took to social media with a long post about actress Sai Pallavi’s upcoming film Gargi, which is releasing in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. The film has been directed by Gautham Ramachandran, a long-time friend and associate of Rakshit.

In his elaborate note, Rakshit wrote that “knowing Gautham’s taste in cinema and having gotten a brief insight into the script, it didn’t take me much time to agree to present the film in Kannada. Sai Pallavi being the lead was definitely an added reason, as I have always been an admirer.” He added that after watching the film, he had a 1000 more reasons to be onboard as presenter for the Kannada version.

“After Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana, if there is one more film that has touched my heart and haunted me for days, that is Gargi. The film takes you into Gargi’s life and before you know it, you are already fighting for her cause,” wrote Rakshit, adding, among other things, “When we dare to release our films dubbed in other languages, we also take responsibility to bring good content from other languages to ours and present it to our people.”

Gargi will release in theatres on July 15. The film is being distributed by KRG Studios, in association with Paramvah Studios. It will be in competition with at least 5-6 straight Kannada releases that week.
