Earlier today, the team of Rakshit Shetty’s upcoming release, 777 Charlie announced its satellite and digital partners. While Colors got the satellite rights, its OTT wing, Voot Select now holds the digital streaming rights for the Kannada version. The film, produced by Rakshit’s Paramvah Studios, is set for theatrical release on June 10. A collaboration with Colors was expected when Parameshwar Gundkal, the business head of the GEC, shared a long appreciative post after watching the Kiranraj directorial.
The satellite and digital right announcement today, however, does not mention further details as to when the film can be expected to start streaming, but going by trends it will not be later than 60 days from theatrical release, say industry insiders.
777 Charlie, which is being released as a pan-India film in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi, was censored U/A and will be distributed by KRG Connects in Karnataka. The film, led by Rakshit Shetty as Dharma, follows his journey with a young canine called Charlie, and the relationship they forge along the way.
The film was earlier slated to release as the year end film of 2021 on December 31, but was pushed ahead amid growing concerns of a third wave of the pandemic and the possibility of better distribution deals for the film outside of its primary market in Karnataka. While there was no word on a possible release date for a while, it was only in early April that the team finally revealed June 10 as its date with audiences, four days after leading man Rakshit’s birthday. In fact, when the film’s trailer was released in February, Rakshit had taken to social media writing that he can’t wait for the world to watch this beauty.
777 Charlie, which has music by Nobin Paul and Arvind Kashyap as cinematographer, also stars Sangeetha Sringeri, Raj B Shetty, Danish Sait and Bobby Simha.
