According to a source, the team has just about managed to finish editing the first half of the film and is unlikely to meet the July deadline they’ve set as of now

It was only in late March this year that director Hemanth Rao wound up shooting of his next, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, which has Rakshit Shetty in the lead, along with Rukmini Vasanth and Chaitra Achar. This was the culmination of a whopping 137 days of shoot spread over several years, for which Rakshit had to sport two distinctively different looks and gain a lot of weight for one of them. Much before the team had finished shooting, they had released a Valentine’s Day teaser featuring Rakshit and Chaitra in what will be the 10-years-later portion of the narrative. The teaser ended with a promise that the film will be in theatres in July.
While there has been no word from Hemanth since then, earlier this month, when reporters caught hold of Rakshit outside of the polling station, where he had gone to vote at earlier this month, he had said that the team was still aiming for a late July release, preferably around Muharram, which falls on July 29, making July 28 Friday the probable date.
However, a source close to the team tells us that it is unlike that Sapta Sagaradaache Ello will be able to meet its July date with audiences. “The film is only at editing stage and only about half has been done so far. Work on the second half is yet to begin. Given the massive volumes of footage to trawl through, the edit process of Sapta Sagaradaache Ello is not easy. It is highly unlikely that the team will be able to pull off a July release,” says the source.
Incidentally, when the film was set to go on floors in March 2021, Rakshit had said that the team was looking at winding it up as soon as possible to present it as a December 2021 film. That, of course, did not happen, but the actor was vocal about December being a good month for him, what with Kirik Party and Avane Srimannarayana having been end of the year theatrical outings. In fact, 777 Charlie was also initially meant to be a year-ender release, but had to be pushed ahead. Could Sapta Sagaradaache Ello be a December 2023 release after all?
