Raktabeej: Abir Chatterjee brings in swag to portray a cop

Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s tryst with thriller has begun with Raktabeej. The film features Victor Banerjee, Abir Chatterjee, Mimi Chakraborty, Anashua Chakraborty, and others. Abir plays an IPS officer for the first time. His name is Pankaj Sinha.

On Monday, a glimpse of Abir from a scene of Raktabeej was dropped. He has sharp eyes and agile speed. He jumps balancing on one hand and crosses the bamboo barricade. Evidently, he runs after something with the full swag of a cop. 

Raktabeej delves into the Khagragarh Blast that made headlines in 2014. Burdwan’s Khagragarh trembled after an intense blast on October 2, 2014. The blast took place in a two-storeyed house. When the cops came to the spot, two women blocked the door and threatened to blast the entire building. They were arrested and more than 50 explosives were retrieved. Many people still remember the incident. Raktabeej is based on this true story.

The film is jointly produced by Windows Production and Sanjay Agarwal. Victor Banerjee makes a comeback after a long time in a Bengali film through Raktabeej. Abir plays a rough and tough cop. Shiboprosad shared two photos of Abir and wrote, “Abir runs. Abir flies. Abir kills.” 

Besides Victor Banerjee, Abir, Mimi, and Anashua, the film has a stellar cast with Kanchan Mallik, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Satyam Bhattacharya, Debasish Mondal, and Devleena Kumar and others in key characters. The popular action director Manohar Verma, who was in charge of the action in films like Madras Cafe, Airlift, Mardaani, and Sardar Udham, has arranged the action sequences in Raktabeej. The film will be released in Bengali, Odia, Assamese, and Hindi on October 19.
