Ram Charan reveals how his expensive gift for Upasana Konidela went wrong: I got a slap in my face

Ram Charan and Upasana Konidela, who celebrated their eleventh marriage anniversary recently, welcomed a baby girl into their lives and named her Klin Kaara Konidela. While the RRR star is enjoying his space away from work, spending time with his wife and the baby, he took a break from his schedule to interact with popular Youtuber, host Tanmay Bhat as part of a branding initiative.

The light-hearted conversation helped viewers discover a lesser-known side to Ram Charan. Speaking of a moment where he regretted buying a gift for his wife early into marriage, he said, “I truly don’t know what to gift my wife. I got a slap on my face early in the marriage. I got her an expensive gift. I thought she was going to be floored but she rejected it.”

Upasana reportedly didn’t take even five seconds to reject the gift. “It took me five hours and a lot of effort to go to a very unique store. In five seconds, it was gone,” he added. When you plan to gift your sisters, wife or girlfriends something, please ask what they want, Ram Charan told viewers. “As long as they don’t have to wear it (your gift) outside and stay in the house, they’re fine. Girls, I think don’t need surprises and don’t like it.”

While he was initially very upbeat about his fashion game and turning up for events, his choices changed with time and Upasana wasn’t happy about it either. “By the time I was married, I became neutral in my colours - grey, white and black. There’s nothing they can comment on that. Whenever she talks to her designer friends, she asks them to up my fashion quotient a bit and get me to wear something colourful.”

The star’s next release is Game Changer, directed by Shankar, where he’s paired opposite Kiara Advani.
