If the response to the first look of Telugu superstar Ram Charan’s next, which has now been revealed as Peddi, is anything to go by, fans are sure that it is the redemption project the actor needed after the disaster that was Gamechanger. On the occasion of Ram Charan’s birthday, team RC 16 unveiled the title, Peddi, which had been leaked days ago, and a first-look poster, which features the actor in an intense, raw and rugged avatar, including scars, unkempt hair and beard, a septum piercing, as he lights up a cheroot.
The film, directed by Buchi Babu Sana of Uppena fame, is, reportedly, still a long way off from its date with audiences, and said to be a March 26, 2026, theatrical release, but the first look, netizens feel, has redemption written all over it. The expectation is that Peddi will be a brutally massy film, with a compelling narrative and powerful performances. While the first look has drawn comparison to a similar poster from Allu Arjun’s Pushpa, fans remain unperturbed and are loving the ‘fierce mass look”.
A social drama disguised as a village sports drama, Peddi pairs Ram Charan with Janhvi Kapoor, who made her Telugu film debut with Devara last year. The film, produced by Vriddhi Cinemas, has been set against rural hinterlands and has AR Rahman on board as the music composer. Jagapathi Babu, Shivarajkumar, and Divyenndu have been officially announced as being in the supporting cast, of the film that is being co-presented by Sukumar Writings and Mythri Movie Makers.
In fact, a few days ago, it was reported that Kannada cinema’s Century Star Shivarajkumar had wrapped up his portions in the film. The scenes, which are said to be pivotal to the narrative, were shot in Hyderabad. Peddi is among the first few projects Shivarajkumar has taken up since his return from the US, where he had undergone surgery for bladder cancer. The team of RC 16 was gracious enough to wait patiently for Shivarajkumar’s return and subsequent recuperation before getting him to don greasepaint for the film.
