Filmmaker Ram Madhvani's project, The Waking of a Nation, had its OTT premiere on SonyLIV. The series has been set against the backdrop of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Days after his web show's release, the director reacted to Akshay Kumar's upcoming Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story Of Jallianwala Bagh having the same premise as his show. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Madhvani revealed he knew about this film for four years.
During a promotional interview, Ram Madhvani reacted to The Waking of a Nation and Kesari 2's similar premise. "We have known about it. We knew four years ago that Akshay and Dharma are doing this film with Ananya Panday and Madhavan. We knew that it is about a court case that happens in London," said Ram.
However, the filmmaker believes that both projects aren't similar, but they are about the 1919 massacre. Madhvani further revealed he's been told that Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story Of Jallianwala Bagh is a good film.
"I am told by people who have seen it. I genuinely wish them every success. We are all here trying to put out our work. We know how much of a miracle it is to do work itself and put it out. Genuinely, I wish their film does well," he added.
Meanwhile, Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story Of Jallianwala Bagh has been directed by Karan Singh Tyagi. Kumar will be seen along with Ananya Panday and R Madhavan in the period drama. Produced by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective and Cape Of Good Films, Kesari 2 is set for a theatrical release on April 18, 2025.
