Gopichand has always made it clear to his directors that he’ll only stick to commercial films and will not experiment with off-beat stories. While the success rate of his approach is debatable, he’s back in a typical formulaic entertainer again with Rama Banam, directed by Sriwass and written by Bhupathi Raja. Dimple Hayathi plays the female lead in the film set to hit screens on May 5.
Khushbu, Jagapathi Babu essay other crucial roles in the actioner bankrolled by TG Vishwa Prasad under People Media Factory. After a series of promo and song launches, the makers unveiled the theatrical trailer of the film today. The initial glimpses in the trailer focus on the romance segment between Gopichand and Dimple; the latter is cast as a vlogger based out of Kolkata.
Getup Srinu, Ali, Satya and Saptagiri provide comic relief while Jagapathi Babu is the owner of a organic food-production firm. The discussion shifts to the relevance of joint families in the modern-day era. The film goes back and forth between portions where Jagapathi Babu and Gopichand are united and how they part ways. The latter treads the path of violence, leading to a conflict.
There are a series of heavy-duty dialogues and emotional sequences followed by a good dose of action. Lines like ‘vaadu tammudu la ledu..terminator la unnadu’ only result in unintentional humour. To give credit where’s due, it’s apparent that the film has been shot on a lavish scale and the cinematography stands out. Mickey J Meyer’s catchy music adds some sheen to the usual commercial masala.
Tarun Raj Arora, Nasser, Shubalekha Sudhakar, Sachin Khedekar, Kasi Vishwanath form the supporting cast of the film. Vetri Palanisamy cranks the camera and Prawin Pudi is the editor. Kiran Kumar Manne is the art director for the film whose action sequences are choreographed by Kanal Kannan, Ram Laxman, Venkat and Ravi Varma.
