Ramam Raghavam has struggled to cross even Rs. 1 crore in total collections. On its opening day, the film managed to earn just Rs. 30 lakhs in Telugu, a surprisingly low figure. Although the weekend and positive word-of-mouth helped, the film only managed Rs. 60 lakhs on day two.
With an India vs. Pakistan cricket match scheduled for Sunday, collections were expected to remain low. Ramam Raghavam was also dubbed in Tamil, given that Samuthirakani played the lead role. In Tamil Nadu, it performed slightly better, making Rs. 1.1 crore on day one.
Ramam Raghavam storyline
Ramam Raghavam revolves around a father-son relationship. The father loves his son unconditionally, but the son loses direction in life, constantly creating problems for his parents. When things spiral out of control, he even plans to kill his father for money. The film’s second half presents this gripping narrative in an engaging manner.
Samuthirakani delivers a memorable performance as the helpless father, while Dhanraj’s direction in the second half is particularly strong. The last fifteen minutes are especially praised for their thrilling sequences and emotional depth. However, many viewers felt that Dhanraj should have focused solely on direction and cast a more popular actor in the lead role, which could have elevated the film’s impact.
