Filmmaker Akash Srivatsa and Ramesh Aravind have collaborated twice in the past on the Shivaji Surathkal films wherein the veteran actor played the titular role. Modelled on the iconic Sherlock Holmes character, Shivaji Surathkal is a shrewd and highly skilful policeman whose rather unorthodox methods help him crack the toughest of crimes. The catch, though, is that he is also plagued with the horrors of the past which, every now and then, come in the way of his work as a cop/detective.

Shivaji Surathkal: The Case of Ranagiri Rahasya, the first instalment of the series, released in 2020 to positive reviews and the second part, Shivaji Surathkal 2: The Mysterious Case of Maayavi released earlier this year. Having now evidently forged a strong equation, Ramesh Aravind and Akash Srivatsa are back together for their third collaboration.

On the occasion of Ramesh Aravind's 59th birthday, fans were treated to a special announcement that concerned the aforementioned collaboration. Akash Srivatsa is set to direct the legendary actor for the third time in a new film titled 'Daiji', which comes as a venture independent of the Shivaji Surathkal world.

The makers of the new film have released the first poster which reveals Ramesh Aravind in a gripping and never-before-seen avatar. With his face vibrantly painted in a manner that it conjures up the Joker from the Batman series, the veteran actor's look is likely to spring a huge surprise on his hardcore fans who have loved him over the years for his charming personality.

In the same 'Daiji' poster, the America! America!! actor also wears a slightly conniving smile with his look also boasting earrings and other embellishments. The initial reactions to this poster on social media are largely positive with many expressing the desire to know more about the film and also the character. Do we have another thriller on the cards?

Daiji to mark Ramesh Aravind's 106th film

Having made his debut back in 1986, Ramesh Aravind has since then acted in over 140 films across languages including Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and even Tulu. His work in Tamil cinema, such as Keladi Kannmanii, Duet, Sathi Leelavathi, Panchathantiram and others, has garnered a lot of popularity over the years and his collaborations with Kamal Haasan are noteworthy. Ramesh Aravind has also directed a number of films over the years including Rama Shama Bhama, Sathyavan Savithri, Accident, Uttama Villain (Tamil) and the more recent thriller 100.
