Debutant director Nithin Devidas’ No Way Out, which has Ramesh Pisharody, Basil Joseph and Dharmajan Bolghatty, has finally locked a release date. The survival thriller, which was shot entirely in Ernakulam during the pandemic, will hit theatres on April 22, 2022.
The movie, which had cleared the CBFC with an U/A certificate earlier this year, will focus primarily on Ramesh’s character. The other characters essayed by Basil, Dharmajan and Raveena Nair will appear only in a few scenes, mostly in the flashback sequences.
The film also has Ramesh essaying a more intense character, compared to his usual comic roles. Filming of the movie was entirely in Ernakulam during the pandemic. However, the filmmaker had earlier said in an interview that No Way Out will not factor in the pandemic despite it being a survival thriller.
Ramesh, meanwhile, posted a few images from the sets of the film, while announcing its release date, on his Instagram. The images showed the bruises that he had on his wrists, shoulders and back after acting in the film, tied up by ropes for almost eight days. “It’s not a big sacrifice… there are so many others who endure greater pain for their jobs,” wrote the actor.
The actor was most recently seen in a cameo role in Aishwarya Lekshmi’s Archana 31 Not Out, for which he had also sung a track. Ramesh, meanwhile, has also completed shooting his portions for Mammootty’s upcoming film CBI 5: The Brain.
Incidentally, the makers of CBI 5 are also looking at an April release. While there are rumours that the film is expected to hit theatres on April 7, this looks unlikely with Vijay’s Beast and Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2 set to follow a week later and Kerala being huge revenue centres for the films. This would force the producers to look at an Eid release on April 28, setting up a clash with Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Jana Gana Mana.
