Kannada actress Ramya is among the rare celebrities who has, time and again, been vocal about the need to get justice for the family of Renukswamy, the 35-year-old Darshan fan who was found dead in Bengaluru, after allegedly being tortured by people close to the actor at his behest. Darshan is accused number 2 in the case and is currently out on bail. The Supreme Court is currently deliberating the Karnataka State government’s plea to cancel the bail granted by the High Court and has come down sharply on the lower court in its handling of the bail disposal.

Ramya has been sharing reportage of the Supreme Court proceedings in the case on social media and then added an Instagram story addressed directly at the fans of the beleaguered actor. For anyone familiar with Challenging Star Darshan’s fans, it would not be hard to guess why Ramya would have had to post such a message. For the uninitiated, well, the Kannada superstar’s ‘celebrities’ have a tendency to use supremely abusive and derogatory language, often bordering on threats too.

Ramya followed that up by sharing screenshots of some of the messages she has been receiving and they are far from pleasant. Although Darshan is currently accused in a murder case, his fan following has not diminished. The actor had feigned health issues – back pain that requires surgery – to get bail, but has not been operated on yet. Whatever ‘treatment’ he has got so far seems to have worked wonders, because he’s been able to resume shooting for his next, Devil, directed by Prakash Veer.
All eyes are now on the Supreme Court, which is expected to deliver its verdict on the plea to cancel his bail. Will Darshan head back to jail or will he continue to enjoy freedom?
