Not just India, but the entire world got to know about Rana Daggubati and Prabhas thanks to SS Rajamouli's blockbuster hit, Baahubali.

The ace filmmaker took things a notch higher by winning an Oscar for his latest film, RRR, which propelled two other Telugu stars to national and international stardom: Jr NTR and Ram Charan.

The popularity of Telugu films and stars is such that the audience eagerly awaits films being churned out from the region or those starring stars from there.

A good example of this is Project K, which stars Prabhas and Deepika Padukone. Directed by Telugu filmmaker and screenwriter Nag Ashwin, the Telugu-Hindi sci-fi film also stars Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Disha Patani.

The film came up during a recently-held session on pan-Indian stars at a conclave, where Rana said that Project K will do what Rajamouli was unable to do with his films Baahubali and RRR.

Explaining this further, Rana said, "I think Project K will break the boundaries that both Baahubali and RRR haven’t broken and push that boundary to the next edge. I am really looking forward to that film. It could really become a global film from the Telugu film industry."

Produced by Vijayanthi Movies, it has been reported that Project K will be made in two parts with a budget of around Rs 500 crore.

The shooting of the film is underway, and the large budget of the film is largely due to the top-notch VFX work that is required for it.

According to some recent reports, Kamal Haasan has been approached to play the antagonist in the film. And it is said that the makers have offered the veteran actor Rs 150 crore to star in the film.

Earlier this year, on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri, the makers of Project K announced its release date. The film will be released in cinemas worldwide on January 12, 2024, to coincide with the Sankranti/Pongal festival.
