When Telugu audience had high anticipations and expectations from Ram Charan and Shankar’s Game Changer this Sankranthi, Venkatesh Daggubati’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam came as a dark horse and made a great impact at the box office. Subsequently, the film was made available on ZEE5, and you can stream the film with your OTTplay Premium subscription. However, it was only recently revealed that the film did not have any OTT sale before release. Venkatesh’s nephew and actor-producer Rana Daggubati spoke about the film recently, and here is what he has to say.
Venkatesh-starrer 2025 action-comedy film Sankranthiki Vasthunam is written and directed by Anil Ravipudi and produced by Sri Venkateswara Creations. The film released in theatres this January for Sankranthi and became a commercial blockbuster. The film is now available on ZEE5 via OTTplay Premium subscription.

Rana Daggubati who is nephew of Venkatesh and a producer, actor, and distributor himself, recently weighed in his opinion about the distribution system in film industry. In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Rana said about how his uncle's film Sankranthiki Vasthunam did not have any OTT sale before theatrical release. "My uncle's film did not do any OTT sale, released for Sankranthi and just kept running. It was huge. I think there was a different audience, that has to be found and catered to. The release mechanism is also something that we are developing and figuring out. But what I am sure now than ever before is that there is definite audience for this cinema,” he said.

Rana Daggubati had also reunited with Venkatesh for the second season of Netflix show Rana Naidu.
