Netflix is finally gearing up to premiere its Indian adaptation of the American show Ray Donovan titled Rana Naidu in a few weeks from now. Bringing together popular Telugu star Venkatesh and his nephew Rana Daggubati together, the show is a crime thriller directed by Karan Anshuman and Suparn Verma. The trailer of the show was launched today amidst the cast, crew in Mumbai.

The trailer introduces Rana Naidu as a fixer for the biggest names Mumbai, the one who does the dirty job for the who’s who of the influential lot in the city. He won’t sleep until he finishes his ‘clean up’ job, even if he has blood on his hands. He’s head over heels in love with a woman but remains secretive about her and his job from the world. His world takes a drastic turn when his father Naga Naidu returns from jail, five years earlier than his sentence.

It’s quite evident that Rana isn’t on good terms with his father and the trailer suggests that the latter’s return might interfere with his job. Rana tries his best to avoid his father but doesn’t succeed in doing so. There’s tension when Rana and Naga come together, the latter is good with his dark humour and sarcastic one-liners. The mess gets deeper with time and the duo can’t escape it.

While Rana Daggubati looks aptly cast for the part, it’s Venkatesh’s who surprises audiences in a badass avatar with his no-holds-barred dialogues laced with an accent. The slick trailer promises a good mix of crime, action, comedy, romance and drama - primarily all the ingredients one expects out of a mainstream film, but the packaging is fresh and piques your curiosity.

Surveen Chawla, Sushant Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Suchitra Pillai, Gaurav Chopra, Ashish Vidyarthi and Rajesh Jai form the supporting cast of the show produced by Aaron Sunder of Locomotive Global Inc.
