Ranasthali, an out-and-out mass entertainer, helmed by debutant Parasuram Srinivas, hit theatres today.Produced by Sureddy Anupama and presented by Sureddy Vishnu under AJ Production, the film features Dharma, Ammu Abhirami, Chandini Rao in lead roles. Prashanth, Siva Jami, Ashok Sanga, Vijay Ragam and others too essay important roles in the actioner, which was in the news recently for its violent, intense trailer.
The story unfolds through the lens of two characters, Basava and Ammulu, who happen to be cousins. While Ammulu loses her parents early in life, she later gets married to Basava, as per the decision of the latter’s Munayya. In an attempt to settle a few debts, Basava takes up job under a man named Chakravarthy. Chakravarthy soon asks Basava and Ammulu to take care of the stay of his four workers. Before Basava realises the true identity of the workers, they kill Chakravarthy and Ammulu.
What prompts the henchmen to kill Chakravarthy and Ammulu? Will Basava find answers from Chakravarthy’s past? Watch out for the film to know more. Basava as Dharma has received rave reviews for his performance, more so in the action sequences. While Chandini Rao’s performance drew praise too, viewers say the surprise element to Ammu Abhirami’s characterisation will strike a chord with many.
Shiva, the antagonist, and the supporting cast including Benarjee, Madhumani, Chandrasekhar, Prashanth Pandu and Srinivas Vetti are believed to have made a strong impact with their presence. The climax and the kidnap sequence of another key character are among the major highlights of the film and they are a testimony to the directorial brilliance of Parasuram Srinivas, the makers share. The film knows its target audience, the masses and there are reportedly enough highs in the story to please them.
Jasti Balaji’s rustic, earthy cinematography and Kesava Kiran’s music are among other attention-worthy aspects to the 140-minute long film. While Ranasthali is mainly meant for the masses, there are portions that may appeal to the tastes of family audiences. It remains to be seen if the actioner, with all its strength, will make a mark at the box office.
