Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s wedding was definitely one of the most highly awaited events of the year. When the couple finally tied the knot on April 14 this year, their picture-perfect wedding was the talk of the town, as fans fawned over the delightful pictures. Ranbir’s mother Neetu Kapoor also shared in the elation of the couple, and recently revealed that she had a surprise in store for them during their mehendi function.
In conversation with Film Companion, Neetu opened up about the couple’s intimate mehendi function, which featured only about 20 people. She said that they planned a ‘surprise item’ for the couple, dancing to the tracks of Dholida, Mehendi Hai Rachne Wali and Tenu Leke. Calling it ‘too much fun’, Neetu also said that she thought Ranbir had figured out something was cooking. The actor had spotted a choreographer in the background in a video call with his mom, but had feigned surprise on the day nonetheless.
Neetu also opened up on the couple’s ‘baraat’, which she called ‘the best part’. She talked about how she wanted the ‘full ghodi ritual’, but was worried of being spotted by paparazzi. So they had decided that the baraat would go from 5th to the 7th floor. They had also danced to bhangra in the passage as well, she revealed.
The actress talked about how they had spent about two years hunting for a venue, and had even considered South Africa, but had ultimately decided on their home. She said that if her husband Rishi Kapoor were alive, he would have wanted a grand celebration. But, Neetu added, Ranbir could have convinced his father for a scaled down ceremony.
Meanwhile, the couple's film Brahmastra, directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar, will be released in theatres on September 9.
