Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are gearing up for the release of their first onscreen outing together in the form of Brahmastra. The couple reportedly started dating while they were working on the film, which was written and directed by Ayan Mukerji. Ranbir recently revealed that the couple had hid their relationship from Ayan when they first started dating.

Ranbir, Alia and Ayan had attended an event for the preview of Brahmastra’s new song Deva Deva. While interacting with the media, Ranbir spoke of how their lives had changed over the course of working on the film, as reported by TOI The actor recalled how ‘obsessed’ Ayan had been on the film, always directing the couple’s attention onto Brahmastra whenever possible. “When Alia and I had started dating, we couldn't even tell Ayan that we had started seeing each other, fearing that he would freak out", said Ranbir.

The director said that when Ranbir and Alia broke the news to him, he’d had a very ‘mature’ reaction and tried to be on his best behaviour for the couple.

Alia talked about how she and Ayan had been close even before she started dating Ranbir. In response, Ayan revealed that he and Alia had hit it off when they first met, saying that they were always on the same wavelength. The director added that he and Alia were close even before the latter and Ranbir started becoming close.

Deva Deva is the second song from Brahmastra’s soundtrack, after Kesariya. The former will be released on August 8.

In addition to Ranbir and Alia, Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva also features Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Mouni Roy. The film, bankrolled by Ayan, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Namit Malhotra, will hit theatres on September 9, in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
